Sadhviji’s Divine Satsang: Milk: Divine Nectar or Definite No-No?

Sadhviji’s Divine Satsang: Milk: Divine Nectar or Definite No-No?

On a cold and foggy almost-winter evening, our beautiful global family found warmth and wisdom in the cozy Satsang Room of Parmarth Niketan, where Pujya Sadhvi Bhagawati Saraswatiji answered questions asked by our Parivar at home and abroad to help us to deeper into our spiritual path.

The first question came from a family member in India who wanted to know how she can fully love herself with all of her (perceived) imperfections. With Sadhviji’s much-sought-after warmth and wisdom, we’re reminded that those imperfections only apply to Lower-Case “self…” Upper-case “Self” is always perfect!

Then, a member of the family in the Satsang Room posed two related questions that so beautifully spoke to the environmental and health challenges that we’re just now beginning to face. The first involved the drinking of milk – something that, in our tradition, used to be considered divine nectar, but that is now considered unhealthy on so many levels. The second question concerned the using of diyas in our pujas, especially in terms of our offerings to Mother Ganga. In both instances, Sadhviji shares, our behaviour and beliefs been compelled to adapt because of environmental and social conditions, not because they were ever wrong. Watch and listen to this important and powerful discourse on the ways that we can make our lives healthier and less damaging to our world by the choices that we make.

Finally, a member in the Satsang Room was curious about how we can take home the wisdom and knowledge that we gain in venues like Satsang and apply them to our lives after we leave. In response, Sadhviji delves into the concept of sanskaras – impressions or habits – and how we can use those sanskaras to help us maintain newly-acquired wisdom.
