This year’s event, hosted by Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind President Maulana Syed Mohd Usman Mansoorpuriji and Secretary General Maulana Mahmood Madaniji and held at New Delhi’s International Center, was no exception as dozens of representatives from different religions, social groups and political parties gathered to join together in an effort to share a message of communal harmony and oneness.

Parmarth Niketan’s President and Spiritual Leader, HH Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji, and Pujya Sadhvi Bhagawati Saraswatiji were invited guests to the event, as were HG Archbishop of Mumbai, Cardinal Oswald Gracias, Pujya Swami Agniveshji; Brahma Kumaris sister BK Manju; Christian leader and Founding Chair and Director of the Institute of Harmony and Peace Studies, Dr M.D. Thomas; Former Union Minister, Mani Shankar Aiyer; National President of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Syed Sadatullah Husaini; Muchkund Dubey, former Foreign Secretary of India; Maulana Mahmood Madani, Maulana Ashgar Ali Imam Mehdi, President, Jamiat Ahle Hadees; Navaid Ahmed, president, All India Muslim Majlis-e Mushawarat; Aam Aadmi Party leader Dileep Panday and Bhim Army Chief Chandrashekhar, as well as dozens of ambassadors and leaders from countries around the world.

It was a beautiful evening, filled with warmth and permeated by a true feeling of divine union that Pujya Swamiji said, whilst addressing the media, “is true yoga. when we come together as one family across interfaith backgrounds, castes, colours and creed to serve as one for a strong, resilient and united nation, that’s God’s grace. That’s our real sadhana (spiritual practice).”

Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind President Maulana Syed Mohd Usman Mansoorpuriji, echoed those sentiments, sharing that ‘Today people from different thoughts, religions and political affiliations are here at this program and celebrating Eid. This is the strength of our country. We are known all over the world for this uniqueness and this is our core strength. Eid celebrates God, human equality, welfare of poor and the deprived persons,” said the leader.

As the evening drew to a close, Pujya Swamiji presented a sacred Rudraksh sapling to Respected Maulana Syed Mohd Usman Mansoorpuriji and Archbishop Gracias, symbolising their collective commitment to environmental preservation. He shared that in the coming monsoon, as they have in the past, they will work together for the promotion of greenery and the massive plantation of trees, especially along the banks of our sacred rivers.
